How are we responding?

  • ActionAid has launched an immediate humanitarian response across South Asia.
  • ActionAid Australia will be directing support to Bangladesh and Nepal where we have a long term presence working with women in these countries to prepare for crisis.
  • From decades of working to support women’s rights, we know that when women lead the whole community benefits, and this is the most efficient use of resources.

How will my donation be spent?

  • Your contribution will go towards distributing lifesaving emergency supplies;
  • Provide cash grants directly to women to meet their urgent needs;
  • And help mobilise a rapid response to increasing gender based violence in areas that have been impacted by flooding.

Note: A percentage of your donation will be used to offset fundraising and administration costs. In the event that the funds raised through this emergency appeal exceed the amount required to meet the immediate and long term needs of the people affected. Your donation will go into our Women’s Rights in Emergencies Fund to ensure we are able to support women to take leadership roles during this emergency, and in future disaster response and recovery efforts. 90% of the funds raised will be used in the South Asia Floods emergency work and 10% will be used to offset fundraising and administration costs.
